It’s no secret: I LIVE for a good adventure! I met Kat and Jay last summer at Danielle and Shey’s wedding at Chelan Lake in Washington, and we were surprised to learn that we were both based in Texas! What were the odds? When they left Chelan for Seattle, Jay actually proposed to Kat, and from that point I’d crossed my fingers that we’d get the chance to work together once we were all back in Texas. Sure enough, not long after, these two asked me to not only capture their engagement session, but to go with them on an adventure to Fredericksburg. When they told me that they were considering Enchanted Rock, I could hardly contain my excitement!

Enchanted Rock is this glorious natural area in Fredericksburg, Texas, a little over an hour outside of Austin. In true Texas fashion, our session was hot, sticky, and the climb up the rock was definitely a workout! However, these two made it all look effortless. In fact, they knocked this session out of the park considering all of the elements. We started out of the west base of the rock for the shade. They brought a sunflower during the initial part of their session. When Jay first asked Kat to be his girlfriend, he gave her a bouquet of sunflowers, which is her all time favorite flower. It was a truly romantic, personal touch to their session that I couldn’t help but get a bit emotional about.

We then trekked up to the top of Enchanted Rock for sunset, which we could not have timed more perfectly. By that time the air had cooled, and we found ourselves scaling the steep sides of the rock’s edges. I highly recommend Enchanted Rock for those of you wanting an epic, adventurous setting for your engagement session, without having to leave Texas!

If you’re thinking about getting out of town for a session, check out my travel dates so we can meet up on the road!
